Take A Bike Tour In Italy
Liguria, Riviera and Maritime Alps
If you plan on taking a bike tour in Italy, this region is a wonderful choice. The joy of cycling Liguria is its variety. Within just a few days you can cycle through the charming seaside villages of Cinque Terra, then veer into the impressive Maritime Alps, some of the most scenic mountains in Europe.
Don't be fooled: while Ligurian's coastline is rugged and beautiful, there are a number of challenging climbs along the way.
There is a variety of plant life throughout Liguria. The combination of warm coastal breezes with nearby mountains makes for a stunning display of wildflowers in the spring. Biking inland, the rolling hills and rocky outcrops are perfect for olive groves and vineyards, which turn golden in the fall time.

When to Cycle Liguria
April-early June and September-October are the best times to cycle Liguria. While July/August are ideal for beach combing, it's also the high-season for tourists (local and international).
The Po River basin also gets unbearably hot during the summer months.
Terrain of Liguria
The coastline is rocky with many climbs. Cycling the Po River is completely flat, while the Maritime Alps consist of numerous climbs and fantastic mountain scenery.
Cycling though Liguria is a gastronomic joy. We highlight the local delicacies by trip, but regional specialties include focaccia and farinata (delicious breads, sometimes mixed with herbs), taggiasca olives and olive oil, delicious white truffles and pesto Genovese (where basil was created and still reigns supreme).
